How the game uses in-memory progress, browser-tab diagnostics, and optional anonymous gameplay measurements.
Progress stays in this game instance
Your active round is kept in memory. Refreshing or closing the game resets it. The game has no account, cross-device progress, or permanent best score. The game and its country outlines are hosted by this site.
A diagnostic log for this browser tab
This site records a limited diagnostic log in sessionStorage when your browser allows it. It contains game actions such as starting, answering or skipping, completing a round, and playing again, together with scores, recording times, run and question IDs, and the data and scoring versions. It does not record arbitrary typed text.
The log is capped at 200 events and helps diagnose gameplay issues. Reloading the page can retain the tab-session log, but it does not restore game progress. You can clear it with the diagnostic panel’s clear control or your browser’s site-data controls. Browsers may restore tab sessions, so closing a tab is not a guarantee of immediate erasure in every browser.
Anonymous gameplay measurements
When gameplay reporting is enabled, new game actions are sent to this site’s own endpoint: starting a round, answering or skipping, opening an explanation, finishing, starting another round, and a limited set of game errors. Uploads contain random event and round IDs, question IDs, submitted ratios and scores, and data and scoring versions. The database stores the server’s receipt time and these fields except the submitted ratios. Replay links connect two rounds; no persistent visitor ID is created.
The game-event database does not store IP addresses, browser fingerprints, full page URLs, referrers, or arbitrary typed text. Cloudflare processes network information to deliver the page and apply a short-term request limit. Gameplay events are self-reported activity and are not authenticated scores or a count of unique people.
An hourly maintenance task keeps raw events for up to 30 UTC calendar days and daily totals for up to 180 UTC calendar days. Deletion can occur at the next successful maintenance run. Daily totals summarize started and completed rounds, replay, answers, explanations, and controlled errors. Reports are available only to the site operator.
Your choice and the hosting service
Use the control above to pause new gameplay reporting for this browser tab. We also pause reporting when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, or blocks the preference storage. A request already sent may still arrive. Pausing or clearing the local diagnostic log does not delete server records already received. Earlier browser events are never uploaded when you resume.
Reporting is optional to gameplay. A blocked request, unavailable storage, or paused reporting does not stop a round. Browser-tab diagnostics remain separate from server measurements.
This site uses Cloudflare Workers to deliver the game and a dedicated D1 database for gameplay measurements. Network delivery and Cloudflare service processing are covered by Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
