About Guess the Real Size
A browser game for untimed country area comparisons, with map-based explanations and five questions per round.
A small game about a sense of scale
Guess the Real Size asks one question: how large is one country compared with another? Make a guess by changing an outline, then compare it with the estimated area from the game’s maps.
The country mode has 12 countries, 20 question pairs, and five untimed questions per round. No account is needed. You can adjust the outlines, reveal the estimated area ratio, and review every answer at the end.
Original game, openly available map data
The interface, scoring, question selection, and feedback are created for this project. The country boundary dataset comes from Natural Earth and is in the public domain.
Natural Earth’s public-domain terms apply to the map data. They do not grant a redistribution license for the original game code.
Play, compare, and learn the rules
Start a round with five comparisons from the shuffled question bank. There is no time limit, and the starting outlines have equal displayed areas so they do not reveal the answer.
After each guess, compare the outlines at a shared map scale and read the explanation. How to play explains the controls, scoring, and the difference between area and length.
